SACE International Workshop Brings Global Educators Together in Tianjin

From 24-25 August 2026, more than 70 educators, school leaders and coordinators from across the SACE International network gathered in Tianjin, China, for the 2026 SACE International Regional Professional Learning Workshop, held in partnership with Haileybury Tianjin.

Taking place over two days, the workshop brought together representatives from 14 partner schools and institutions under the theme Connecting to Thrive, exploring how collaboration, professional learning and strong educational partnerships can support young people to succeed in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.

The program featured a range of professional learning opportunities, including subject-specific workshops, leadership discussions and sessions focused on university pathways and international marketing initiatives. The event provided educators with valuable opportunities to share effective practice, exchange ideas and strengthen professional connections across the SACE International network.

The workshop highlighted the importance of collaboration within the global SACE community and reinforced a shared commitment to delivering high-quality educational experiences for students studying the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) internationally. SACE International was pleased to welcome Grace Liu, Education Manager at Austrade, and Veronica Walker., First Assistant Secretary (Education and Research) at the Department of Education, who met with delegates from SACE schools and shared insights into Australia's international education sector.

Representatives from 15 Australian universities also participated in the event, showcasing the diverse higher education pathways available to offshore students graduating with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

Their involvement helped strengthen connections between SACE schools and the Australian higher education sector while highlighting future opportunities for students across the international network.

SACE Board staff Jason Bobis, Leanne Jarvis, Wassim Negroh, Virginia Steele, Ryan Byrne and Wei Gao contributed to the workshop through presentations, discussions and knowledge-sharing activities, supporting meaningful professional dialogue among delegates.

The event was co-hosted by SACE Board and Haileybury Tianjin, with special recognition to Renee Coventry and the Haileybury Tianjin team for their leadership and commitment in delivering the successful program.

As the 2026 Regional Professional Learning Workshop concluded, participants celebrated the partnerships, shared expertise and exchange of ideas that continue to strengthen the global SACE community.

The workshop reaffirmed the value of international collaboration in supporting educational excellence and creating opportunities for students around the world.
