An Impeccable Reputation and a Proud History

The South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) boasts a prestigious reputation for excellence that has been meticulously built up over more than 150 years.

Since its inception in 1874, SACE has consistently delivered high-quality education. For over 40 years, this program has also been successfully taught outside Australia. Today, SACE’s overseas network spans the Asia-Pacific region, with more than 360 schools in eight countries.

Initially known as the South Australian Matriculation (SAM) program, it has been delivered internationally in selected countries, including Malaysia since 1982, Singapore from 1987 to 1990, and China since 2005. The program, often referred to as Australian Matriculation or AUSMAT, was renamed the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) in 2014.

The impact of SACE is evident in its numbers. Each year, about 17,000 new graduates embark on their journeys toward success in university and beyond, equipped with the knowledge and skills imparted by SACE.

Successful by Any Measure

SACE has been a crucial stepping-stone for students in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region. To date, over 40,000 students have studied the SACE program outside Australia and successfully graduated. This qualification is recognised and accepted by nearly all universities worldwide, including the most prestigious institutions.
