Onboarding
The SACE Board has developed a comprehensive onboarding training and support package to help new schools and new teachers become familiar with SACE.
A series of seven modules and two check-ins’ will be delivered virtually over an 8–12 week period prior to all new schools commencing delivery of the SACE. Each module will be delivered by qualified SACE education consultants.
To enable you to become familiar with SACE Board systems, orientation sessions will also be set up to guide you in the fundamentals of using our enrolment and resulting system Schools Online and our online learning platform PLATO (Professional learning in assessment and teaching online).
Modules will be recorded, allowing schools and new teachers to refer to the sessions as needed.
This session is designed to provide an essential overview of our plan for implementing the SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education)
In this comprehensive 60-minute interactive Zoom session, we will cover key aspects, including introductions, the onboarding plan, roles and responsibilities, and the initial steps for administration. Participants will also learn how to access the curriculum and necessary resources. Each school leader should prepare by bringing a laptop to fully engage in the session. After the session, teachers are expected to read the Subject Outline for their subjects, the pre-approved Learning and Assessment Plans (LAP), and the performance standards to ensure they are well-prepared for the academic year ahead.
This session is designed to support educators in effectively implementing the SACE curriculum.

This session aims to deepen your understanding of accurately assessing student work.
During this 60-minute interactive Zoom session, we will explore internal assessment, assessment using performance standards, and calibrating to these standards through sample tasks. Each participant should bring a laptop to fully engage in the session. Following the session, teachers are expected to access PLATO and practise assessing using student samples to reinforce their learning.
This session aims to develop an understanding of course progression and external assessment.
In this 60-minute interactive Zoom session, we will cover vertical alignment and how teaching Stage 1 prepares students for success at Stage 2. We will also delve into external assessments at Stage 2, including investigations and exams, and show you how to access relevant resources. Participants should bring their laptops and Stage 1 and 2 performance standards. After the session, teachers are expected to compare and contrast performance standards at Stage 1 and Stage 2 for their subject and access past Stage 2 exams to enhance their understanding.
This check-in is designed to support teachers and check for understanding.
In this 30–45-minute interactive Zoom session, we will discuss how the three key documents – subject outlines, Learning and Assessment Plans (LAPs), and performance standards – interrelate.
