Moderation
In Stage 1 of the SACE, all student work is assessed and marked internally by the school. However, in Stage 2, while 70 per cent of student work is still assessed by the school, the remaining 30 per cent undergoes external assessment.
To ensure consistent and fair grading across all SACE schools, student work is moderated by the SACE Board. Each year, schools are required to submit samples of student work electronically through a secure portal for final moderation. This rigorous process ensures equitable grading standards, regardless of the school attended.
In Stage 1, moderation is conducted only for Mathematics and English, the compulsory subjects. However, in Stage 2, moderation is performed for all subjects before students receive their final grades.
