Curriculum Forums

Audience: South Australian teachers
When: 6 May – 28 June (multiple sessions across all subjects)
Mode: Face to face
Description: Part of the SACE Board’s success has been the strong partnership between schools and the wider education community across South Australia to work together on strategic projects and changes within the certificate itself. Most recently this work has included exploring how we recognise student capabilities and showcase a greater breadth of student achievement in the SACE; recognise Aboriginal students’ cultural knowledge and learning; and, the accreditation of new compulsory subjects, Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF), and Activating Identities and Futures (AIF).

Commencing in 2024 the SACE Board, through our Education Services team, will reconnect with the broader subject communities and discipline areas through a range of Stage 2 curriculum teacher forums during Term 2. These forums will provide the opportunity for teachers to re-engage with their subject communities, share in professional conversation, and build confidence to understand and apply performance standards when making assessment decisions and designing tasks for our students.

Teachers will also have the opportunity to discuss the current curriculum and consider how the subject might be improved in the short and the longer term.

If funding is a barrier to teacher involvement, the SACE Board will, on a case-by-case basis, consider financial support to ensure a wide range of schools and teachers are represented.

NOTES: We are currently planning online sessions for some subjects to cater for teachers who are unable attend face-to-face. We will communicate directly with schools when these become available.

NOTES: The NT Department of Education Curriculum, Pedagogy & Assessment 7-12 team will communicate directly with Northern Territory schools about Curriculum Forums.
